N.M. Associates was established in 1984 with property development as its primary focus. We are headquartered in Coonoor with branch offices in Chennai, Coimbatore and Kochi. Our portfolio covers property development, project management services, property management services, contracting and hospitality.We are known to be a professionally managed organization with a stable and confident business model, showing slow and steady growth even during difficult market and business cycles. In the process of negotiating these difficult curves, we have developed a name that stands for trust, reliability and innovation.
What began as a 5 member team has today become a 200+ group. NM Associates has an established reputation of creating high quality developments that are reliable and unique.
A New Market:
There was a dormant demand for residential apartments in Chennai. Tapping this market was an unprecedented challenge, since, most Chennaiites were averse to the idea of apartment living. They were all used to independent houses attached to a garden with a tulsi plant in the centre. Fast growing Chennai, was soon running out of land, and so had no choice but to grow vertical.NM Associates thus created a concept of community living, where all apartments reflected the feeling of large spacious living quarters with extensive landscapes, giving its residents a complete living experience with the best of both- spacious apartments and lush landscapes. This eased the shift from living in an independent house to an apartment.
With a long term vision of growing into a world class organization, NMA began the process of building its team and is in the process of creating its own marketing and HR teams which were outsourced till now.
Growth and Consolidation:
Apart from NM Associates, other firms were set up or acquired to handle the various business interests of the group. New firms and subsidiaries include:NMA Properties Pvt. Ltd. - a wholly owned subsidiary focusing on building contracts, asset holdings and land banks
Contemporary Tea Auctioneers Pvt. Ltd. - owns the group's tea, coffee& spices plantations, tea factories and is also one of India's largest Tea Auctioneering Companies
NMA Transports- a wholly owned subsidiary focusing on tea warehousing and transportation
Grande Park Resorts- a wholly owned subsidiary to focus on the hospitality business.
Mathew, Ninan
Ninan Mathew, assumes overall charge of NMA's construction and engineering activities. A Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the Regional Engineering College, Suratkal, Karnataka, his analytical and brilliant mind shapes the management and construction strategies at NMA. He is an expert at very large span steel structures and has created a highly talented technical team which is also a learning ground for emerging talents in the field of construction. He has always worked with the vision of creating contemporary, innovative and environmentally sensitive living spaces without compromising on time, resources and quality.
Continuing the family's philanthropic tradition, Ninan has dedicated himself to various social causes for the needy and participates in various fund raising activities of the community.
Mathew, Phillip
Phillip Mathew, has been involved in the family business from the mid seventies and, now, assumes charge of the construction ventures in the Nilgiris and all subsidiary companies of the group. A Bachelor of Economics from the Madras Christian College, Chennai, he sees opportunities in every situation. Him being the president of various organizations is testimony to his leadership acumen. He is solely responsible for Contemporary Tea Auctioneers Pvt Ltd, a group company, becoming one of the leading tea auctioneering companies in India.
He is actively involved with various organizations, charities and associations in the Nilgiris who campaign for social, environmental and philanthropic causes. He is also an avid golfer and also has a fine collection of vintage cars.
